April Ross

April Ross has won more than one medal at the Olympics. Ross is among only a handful of female beach volleyball players that be able to do so. Alix-Klineman will compete with Ross at Tokyo to win her third gold medal over the next couple of days. But more than that, Ross is aiming to capture the first Olympic gold. With her age of 39, this may be her last opportunity to claim the gold medal at an Olympics. She is still confident but she is not sure. If we do our best or even if we do well, I believe we'll win the gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. Additionally, I'm going be relying on a little bit of luck. Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents and sister. While at Newport Harbor High School, she played in a variety of sports. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball along with basketball as well as track and running. She was definitely a cut above the rest in the latter sport. In her own biography in high school, she was a volleyball player as an outside hitter (middle blocker) and the setter (outside blocker). Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her as the National Player 1999. The year 2000 was the time she received the Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. While Ross and Klineman are in the spotlight since 2017, the former was already an established player on the beach scene prior to their team. In fact, she won multiple major tournaments with two different partners, one of whom is an icon of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 through the year 2013. Ross, Kessy's fellow teammate who won the world title together with Kessy in 2009 was also a major force on world stage. The 2012 Olympic Games, they won the gold medal. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the trio to beat for the gold. Ross was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's departure. The pair won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross played for the Trojans of USC during her college days, years before becoming a professional. Her experience at USC was impressive. She was a All-American and Pac-10 freshman of the year in the year 2000, a young freshman. She also helped the Trojans to make it to their first Final Four. She suffered a devastating personal loss in her sophomore season and yet she went on to repeat in the ranks of an All-American. Over the course of her final two seasons with the Trojans they helped win consecutive championships. Individually she had cemented herself as an all-time great having won the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross was a major in the field of international relations in USC. Margie Ross was not able to witness Ross become the highest beach volleyball level. Ross suffered the loss of her mom to cancer of the breast in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. Ross is still awed by her late parent. Margie is a beach lover as well as in everyday life, inspires her.
