Nadia Elena Comaneci

The year was 1976 and she was an international star after she scored her most perfect ever 10 on an asymmetrical bar during the Montreal Olympic Games. Then she scored another perfect 10 which made her the most youthful Olympic all-around gold medalist, at just fourteen years of age. The dazzling Nadia Comaneci did more than draw the attention of others, but she also contributed to helping Romania become a household name. The sports icon was a worldwide sensation after she scored a record-breaking performance. Her story became a legend and helped to popularize gymnastics across the world. The sport also altered the perception of female gymnasts. The impact she had in her participation in the Olympics was so significant that her two movements such as the toe-on movement as well as the release move were named after her. Both are rated as difficult to the highest level. Also, she performed very well in World Championships, European Championships as well as the Olympics.
